TÜV SÜD strengthens its position in the rail industry |
20 September 2010 |
TÜV SÜD Rail acquires company of the INGENO GroupMunich. TÜV SÜD has acquired the inspection and engineering division of INGENO Group, headquartered in Brandenburg. This acquisition further strengthens TÜV SÜD's role as a third-party provider of planning, consultancy, testing and certification services for rail projects worldwide. The two companies of the INGENO Group, GQS Gesellschaft für Qualitätssicherung und Qualitätsüberwachung mbH and INGENO Europrojekte GmbH, and their 60-plus staff are represented at seven locations in Germany. The services of GQS mbH focus on the design examination and final approval of signalling systems including their electrical and telecommunications equipment. INGENO Europrojekte GmbH specializes in the design of railway control systems and in consultancy on all types of rail infrastructure equipment. Key customers of the two companies are rail infrastructure companies, such as Deutsche Bahn AG, and rail engineering companies. Klaus Bosch, CEO of TÜV SÜD Rail, expects this expansion of TÜV SÜD Rail's service portfolio to yield a clear rise in market shares in the service segment for German and international rail projects: "With the additional know-how of the INGENO Group we can now offer our clients even more comprehensive life-cycle support. This is critical for the successful acquisition of rail contracts, which are increasingly frequently awarded exclusively across all engineering disciplines. Given this, the two companies will be important building blocks in ensuring the continued growth and strengthening of the Rail division in the near future." This also applies to business abroad. From Abu Dhabi to South Africa or Turkey, German expertise has never been more in demand for the realization of large-scale rail projects. At present, TÜV SÜD Rail is supporting various rail projects in a host of countries, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden and Norway. The company also attends to high-profile projects in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Asia and South America. TÜV SÜD Rail's service portfolio targets rail-infrastructure companies, rail transport companies, approval authorities and rail ministries across the world. Its clientele also includes companies offering contracting services to rail companies and rail-industry suppliers. At the INNOTRANS 2010, held in Berlin from 21 September, TÜV SÜD will announce the merger of the three companies ISV mbH, INGENO Europrojekte GmbH and ECG AG under the new name of SIGNON. This merger bundles the consultancy and engineering services for the technical equipment of rail systems under a single brand. Further information is available at www.tuev-sued.de/rail |
